Little Polar Bears
Little Polar Bears includes both "Learn to Skate" and "Learn to Play Hockey." Once a player has met the requirements of "Learn to Skate," then he or she will progress to "Learn to Play Hockey." The overall program is geared towards our players who are 6 and under, but we're happy to discuss your child's individual circumstances and how we can help introduce newer players to skating and hockey. The goals of this program are to develop the individual skill of each player and prepare them to play at the Mite (8U) level. Skill and skating are the most important tools that will be taught to the players so they are best prepared for the Mite level.
Typically 4-7 year olds, but please call the Hockey Director with any special circumstances.
This is a rolling program with 4 sessions offered from September through May.
Sessions are held at Lake Forest College or the Winter Club.
Players will be offered once per week (45 minutes) through the months of September-November. When the ice is ready at the Winter Club practices will be two times per week. During the Spring season we will go back to Lake Forest College where both LTS and LTPH will be on the ice Sunday's at 8am. The practices will be focused on skating skills, puck handling, shooting, falling down and getting up, passing, in game situations, and of course fun!
The Learn to Play Hockey games will be on Saturday mornings and one hour long. It will feature a lively crowd, loud scoreboard with goal horns, and big smiles from all the players!
Learn to Play Hockey players will be provided a jersey they will use for practices and games. Our Learn to Skate players can wear whatever they choose. We recommend warm clothes and winter gloves.
There are no extra costs associated with this program.
