2023 WC Spring Hockey

Our objective is to prepare players for the next level in their development for the upcoming season, support the opportunity to play additional sports, and keep kids playing with their friends from the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff community from a young age right into high school. In the most recent season, more than half of LFHS players came from WC programs.
Based on your feedback, we’ve made some enhancements to this year’s program:
• No weekend commitments:
o No league play, meaning no weekend games
o A tournament during the spring season which will be optional at registration
• 1 practice per week:
o 1 skills and drills based session run by coaches of the upcoming 2023-24 season teams
• 1 Intersquad game per week
o Standard 3 period game
o Players will be divided up weekly to ensure balance and for players to play with different players every week
o Coaches will be on the benches as they would in a standard game
• All Practices and Intersquad games will be held at Lake Forest College.
• Bantam participants will have checking clinic at the start of the Spring season
• Tournament location TBD, but will be local
As in past years, spring hockey is the “moving-up” season - an excellent chance for your player to gain confidence at the new level. It is great preparation for August tryouts, a terrific time for players to further hone their skills and have fun, while ensuring time for other spring sports. Our goal each year is to have enough for 2 teams per age group, as supported by numbers:

Mite (8U - 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 birth years)
Squirt (10U - 2013, 2014 birth years)
Peewee (12U – 2011, 2012 birth years)
Bantam (14U – 2010, 2009 birth years)

Peewee Skills 4:15-5:15pm
Bantam Skills 8:15-9:15pm
Tuesday:
Mite Skills 4:15-5:15pm
Squirt Skills 5:15-6:15pm
Wednesday:
Peewee Intersquad game 4:15-5:15pm
Bantam Intersquad game 8:15-9:15pm
Thursday:
Mite Intersquad game 4:15-5:15pm
Squirt Intersquad game 5:15-6:15pm
Important Dates:
Spring season starts Monday April 3rd and concludes the week of Thursday May 25th.
Registration closes March 19th.
Pricing:
All programs:
$675 – Weekly skills and intersquad games
$725 – Weekly skills, intersquad games and a local tournament (option to participate in registration)
$175 – Goalies ($225 for a goaltender that selects to participate in the tournament)
Early registration discount of $50 if registered by February 17th.
Tournament Information:
All tournament games are played at Rec Plex in Wisconsin or Top Shelf in Gurnee Mills
Mites: May 19-21
Squirts: April 14-16
Peewees: April 28-30
Bantams: May 5-7
Other Information:
AAU and USA Hockey numbers from winter are still valid for spring - you do not need to purchase a new number, except for 2014 birth years. 2014 birth year players are moving from Mite (8U) to Squirt (10U). These ages are governed by different organizations, and as a result 2014 players will require a USA Hockey number.
